A man from Lebanon who did not speak during the portrait. At the end he said it made him very uncomfortable to sit still for so long. The quiet made him think of uncomfortable thoughts – about his departure from Lebanon, which he regretted, and Israel’s destruction of Lebanon. He requested that I draw and enlarge an old black and white photograph of his parents in Lebanon. He spent much of his time polishing the linoleum floor in the reception area over and over again.
